Perfect unit. We purchased enough for all our campsites. Was a lot of work putting together 50+ but well worth it.
marc –
Nice, sturdy, wont rust and just what we were looking for.
Slarty Bartfast –
After spending time at a state park, with the heavy gauge galvanized picnic table frames, I ordered this one. It’s not as heavy as those 2 in plus units, but its sturdy enough for the use it gets at our community park.
Laura Leash –
I had leftover Trex decking and decided to use that to build my table. It took me about four hours but it turned out beautifully. I had to make a couple of modifications because of the bendable nature of Trex, but I am very happy with the frame. And easy enough for me to build by myself! Great product!
kat –
We moved a month after assembling the table. No problem. We took it apart for the move and put it back together once we settled in. TA DA!
AppleSauce Beard –
There is a great deal of sawing and cutting and drilling for this thing. I was trying to replace an existing frame that had rotted out.
Freedom Larry –
Very easy to built. A lot of room for Error and still come out as steady table. Came out and look a lot nicer than 100% wood kits.. much lighter too.You can also use 1×10 or 5/8th x10 planks for table top.
Anonymous –
over all it was a good deal. Fast delivery BUT the box it came in was falling apart and the UPS driver had no tape on his truck to tape it back together. I was lucky that all the parts were still there.

Will be set on outdoor carpet. In my hast to complete I mad a mistake for drill holes for Top by an inch, but I adjusted the seats and everything came together. Be sure to drill holes for seat at 90 deg or you will have to do a little extra filling to get the bolts in. I used un treated Pine wood, 2X10X6ft for seats,1X10 for top & 2X4 for middle brace total cost $51.57 (didn’t see the need for 2X10 top and lighter, for me, is better) {I am 76}. I routed seats 1/2″ and top 1/4″, sanded top with belt sander then coated with 3 coats of Varnish, same for seats. A “Slide-in-Slide-Out” Patio Perfect Table.
The debster –
This was fairly easy to assemble. Still deciding what color to paint the seats.
Capt Dave –
Quick to ship.Easy to install, very versatile, good instructions, good packaging. This frame is for a light weight table great for around the house.I used the 2×10 6 ft for my table. I sprayed the frame with spray on bed liner before assembly to help it last longer outside. All in all this is a good light weight table, i bought it and a park grill to go on my camping spot at the lake.
H Larry A –
Best assembly directions I have ever seen. I would order from this company again. The finished tables look great and work well. The price was right. They should last a long time.
A. Edwards –
We really wanted a casual picnic table. I researched having a table built, building a table and other options. When I found this base it was the perfect solution. We were able to add the wood we wanted and do a little building but there was no cutting required at all (we had the lumber pre-cut for us). This was easy for my husband to assemble in an hour and the table looks and functions well. We would definitely recommend this product.
Leo M. –
Replaced the first set with this frame, looks and fits like my set that that was rusted out on one side.Everything lined up and made it an easy fix. The ones I replaced were a lighter gauge metal and lasted about 20 years. This set should last longer. Good price, I would recommend this frame if your going to build a table. My table is 10 feet long and is very stable with the new frame.
Claude Swoverland –
I enjoy doing this. It’s treated wood and will stain it after 6 month. Table is not so heavy.
brent mills –
Really easy to put together! I bought it bc use can make whatever size table you want. I would suggest on the seats u add a support board screwed underneath, it really adds strength to the seats. Final build cost is between $130-150 dollars. Can’t beat that
Eagle145 –
Structurally sound, but a pain to put together. Definitely a 2 person assembly job. Measurements a bit off, but once you have it together, you are good to go. Arrived on time, but UPS beat it up a bit. Nothing was missing though. Overall a good buy.
Leah J. Leon –
Easy peasy! I’m a small woman but I have knowledge of both manual and power tools. I built four of these tables in a day with little stress. I opted for the 2x10x8 format which meant little cutting and a small price increase per table. I didn’t get the lumber sanded or stained but I did get them built in a day. I’d recommend these to anyone whether they’re a craftsman or not.
tommyb –
Nice table, but the instructios left something to be desired. It said to use a “cleat” that didn’t come with the package. Had to make one. It ended up being a sturdy table, though.
Kirstie Oxford –
Very sturdy Frame, we went with 2x10x6’s,wood costed about $70. and table shipped fastand took 1 hours to put together.
SHS –
I am not much of a handy man but I’ve always been wanting to have a picnic table. But I couldn’t find anything that I could afford. I found this DIY frame kit. . I’ve gotten three 12′ 2×10 cut in half at home depot so I had an extra piece of wood. Good thing I did because I messed one up when making a table. I thought I measured as instructed but wasn’t good enough. I’ve roughened up and got it finished somehow. I’ll upload a photo for viewing. Good luck!
JJ –
Old one lasted 25 years – happy with the product.
Kindle Customer –
Looking for a solid, easy to build table and I am very happy with this one. I used 2×10’s and that simplified the construction, makes it solid too. Bought 3 2x10x12 feet at Home Depot and they cut them to size for me, from there it was drill and bolt. Instructions clear, had no problems at all. Then used Helmsman urethane 5 coats to finish, which is where the time went. Lot of sanding before first coat and between but it is done and looks great and I expect it to last a good long time. I like the fact the benches are attached but unlike some other tables these make it very easy to sit down. The 2×4 under top for support I cut the ends at 45% so there is less chance to hit with leg and looks better. Did not go with pre-treated wood as I worry about chemicals. For same reason did not go with Polyurethane. Now on the 4th of July will find out how it works with family party.
rayinchicago –
Follow what everyone has been saying! Go to your favorite lumber place…grab some 2x10x6’s (or whatever size you want), and have fun building this! I skipped the wood glue, and used wood screws for the middle support brac. I also bought the pre-treated boards, just because it actually was cheaper to but them done than to do it separately.Great frame! Sturdy! My packaging was a bit banged up, but the metal inside was secure, and without a scratch. No complaints. Now if the weather ever gets nice, we can finally enjoy it!
wade nordstrom –
The product it’s self isn’t so bad it could be a little heavier duty but it should survive many years without a problem.
KillTheKing –
Bought this for my goats to climb on and play. Assembly wasn’t the easiest. I used 2xq0 boards for mine. It actually looks nice in the pasture under a tree. I think we use it more than the goats do.
Anne Mills –
This is an easy, easy DIY project! I am 56 year old female and have NO problems understanding the instructions or putting this together!. The frame is sturdy, holes are already there (you will have to drill holes in your wood), comes with bolts and nuts and you have options to buy the lumber you want to put it together with. Like I said, the instructions are EASY to understand, and the table is EASY to assemble! I’m even going to drill a hole in the center for an umbrella and make it fancy!
Mom of Four –
Overall this kit was easy to assemble (about 3 hours including time to sand/stain the purchased lumber). Chose the 8′ version and the table seems relatively sturdy on the patio and the black coating provides good, clean lines. The ability to sit on the ends without having to straddle the frame is a nice benefit over some other plans.
Velocity –
I got this frames and used 2x10s to make my picnic table. I’m happy with it. I’ve only had it together for a month or so. It was easy to assemble and when all put together is sturdy. The final construction is solid and I’m happy with it. I do think that the frames that run 2-3x’s the cost of this one are noticably more sturdy but for the price this one is a great value. I would have been willing to spend thirty bucks more or so if they made it a little more heavy duty. Overall great frame and value for the price.
Kindle Customer –
We needed more outdoor space for Covid days and this was a nicer looking option than the standard picnic table. It is heavy and was a two person three day job to paint the lumber and assemble. The bench sags a bit if you choose to build a longer table. Too heavy to fold so I doubt we will use that feature.
Rachel Boyce –
Shipped quick and is a great product. Easy instructions that work for all sizes of wood and lengths of build.

Nice table. Fairly easy to assemble. Looks good depending upon how much work you want to put into it. I did the 8ft table out of 2×6’s. Length wise it’s great. Width wise I wish the tabletop was 6 boards wide instead of 5. Couple of other could be issues. On the 8ft table the, you can feel the benches flex when you sit. We’ll see if they end up bowing over time. This is NOT a light table and I would like to have seen it sturdier. If you want to move it, I wouldn’t try to push it. Use two people and pick it up. The cleats that hold the leg brackets are held to the tabletop with nails and glue. If I was going to build it again I’d considered securing them with lag bolts instead. All and all I’m happy with the way it turned out. Let’s see how it stands the test of time.
Lysles –
This frame is made from 1 5/8 inch diameter thin steel tubing. It is sturdy with no wobble or other problems. I personally think anything over 6 feet may detract from the sturdiness. I made mine 6 feet with 2×10 pine lumbere. I probably spent 3-4 hours in assembly. I stained the lumber before assembly and then stained the top side of the lumber again after assembly. With time spent cutting the lumber to length, sanding, and staining I probably spent more than 8 hours total. However, if you select your lumber carefully and assemble carefully you will end up with a very attractive table. Your total cost for the frame, lumber (it’s expensive now), and stain will be over $200. You can buy a wooden table at the big box store for about $120 but the quality of the lumber is poor. This will make a much nicer table. If your table is going to be exposed to the weather you will need to buy treated lumber or a water seal product, which will increase you cost somewhat.
Humshark –
We are a family of five that often have friends over, and love to live outside. I considered purchasing more expensive kits, but there seems to be a large price gap between this and the next level. We spent around $55 for wood and another $20 for screws and glue. Just a FEW simple cuts were needed to be made at home, and while we used a circular saw, a hand saw could have easily done the job. If you build a table that is shorter, and don;t want to make the cuts at home, have the wood cut at the time of purchase. We expect to make the second table in a couple weeks, and are sure to enjoy many, many years of use.
Liz Lyons –
This table is not 49.25 wide. It is 62.5″ wide. The dimensions in the photo are incorrect.
M. L. –
Just what was needed to redo our picnic table. Sturdy and good quality
Dan Young –
Was what I expected
harold gillespie –
The kits comes with everything you need to get one built. This makes a grand total of 4 picnic tables I’ve assembled and this is affordable and good. The metal isn’t as heavy duty as the $250 plus models but for light commercial use, yard barbecues and etc I didn’t need the heavier steel. Should hold up just fine.
MCHank –
I’ve looked at several tables/table kits and was not satisfied. Bought this kit added some lumber and labor. Result, the perfect table for me.F
Clarisa Linares –
The bench was easy to build and all the screws needed are included in this purchase. I didn’t like going out to buy the wood for the bench but it is what I got myself into. Once I had all the necessary wood and building materials it was simple and assembly took about 3 hours. It looks great.
James Edberg –
I bought two frames and spaced them out to make a single 16 foot long table. Sturdy and looks great.
Anonymous –
very easy to assemble!! i read the reviews and was able to get the size of the boards and nuts and bolts! Love it!!
JIM GUNN –
Ok
Bobalong –
The nice thing about this kind of table is the ability to slide in from either side. Most all wood tables you can not do this. The tubing is adequately painted, and seems sturdy enough. Takes a considerable amount of lumber to complete. Had it for a year and no rust.
VickyP –
Good deal. Reused the wooden boards from our old table, which was unfixable where it rusted after 30 years of happy use. Looking forward to enjoying outdoor picnics on this one.
Jeff patchin –
Works great, everything you needed was in the box. I made a 6ft table with 10″ wide seats. Before drilling holes for the seat, double check the distance from hole to hole on the legs then drill.
randjwest –
The frame itself it great. We used treated 2X10 boards for both the table top and the seats. The instructions could have been a little clearer but other than that it is working out really well.
mew –
The metal is strong and fine for our use.
Steven M. –
Great price, great delivery and the part FIT!
rich sphar –
completed my very first picnic table. Directions are very good with drawings, did a complete table using 2″ x 10″ ‘s X 8 ‘ by myself in less than 3 hours. ***** read directions first***** Frame appears to be sturdy, only time will tell. I’M PRETTY SURE I’LL BE MAKING A FEW MORE THIS SUMMER
Tammy L. Thompson –
My daughter and I put this together in about an hour, love it! It also came with the hardware ( nuts and bolts), which I did not see mentioned in the description. We are happy with our purchase.
TOBY MATHERLY –
WE BOUGHT THIS TO REPLACE THE LEGS ON MY PICNIC TABLE. WE HADE ONE JUST LIKE THIS ONLY IT WAS 10 OR 15 YEARS OLD. THE LEGS FINALLY RUSTED OUT. IT SITS OUTDOORS 100% OF THE TIME. OUR FREINDS HAD PAINTED COMMENTS ABOUT THEIR VISITS DURING THE LAST 10 YEARS AND WE WANTED TO KEEP IT LIKE IT WAS TO PRESERVE THE MEMORIES. MY WIFE AND I ARE RETIRED. OH, WHAT GREAT TIMES WE HAVE HAD SITTING ON THIS TABLE.THE NEW ONE WAS EASY TO INSTALL AND THE TABLE WAS SAVED. GOOD FOR ANOTHER 10 OR 15 YEARS.
ashlie –
So my kit will be sitting there until I am able to borrow someone’s truck and go buy lumber. At least I can laugh at myself.. :)
Peter J Chase –
The table top has a very slight wobble. 8′ is too long for this frame strength. I suspect it would be perfect for a 6′. But 8′ is too long for the strength of this frame.Get a stronger frame or build your table larger
Ester Knowlen –
Highly recommend
Anonymous –
This frame was easy to put together and install using the lumber from my 25+ year old picnic table. The old table finally rusted out after all these years outdoors. And this frame fit perfectly; only had to drill a few holes in the old boards to get the new frame to fit. Really like this. Did not have to buy any lumber or hardware, just this kit.
Emily –
We had another set of these from 8 yrs ago. We decided to re-do the wood and make the table longer. So we now have a 12 foot long table with 3 brackets: the 2 from this set, and 1 from our old set. This style of picnic table is SO MUCH nicer than the ones with wood braces! Plus, you can use the full length of the table.
Kewpie –
May be a five star item once it is put together. Gift that won’t be constructed till spring. Seems to be strong enough for home use. Like that lumber requirements for different sizes printed right on box.arrived in perfect condition in a strangely contrived shipping box.
Sam –
Not hard to put together with moderate skills. Might be kind of hard with no mechanical abilities of proper tools. Frame is not ultra heavy duty but should do the trick with ease if used for what it is intended for, especially for the price. Pretty solid once all bolts are secured. If you prepare and finish the boards right, makes a really nice looking table. You can use any width boards, but I would recommend 2×10 boards like the picture. Is a lot easier to put together. Less steps and parts.
Geb –
Not as thick as the galvanized park frames at most parks, but my local park had this size so figured it would work. Doesn’t need to be. Its not very flimsy as some reviews I’ve seen. I built a 6 ft table with 2×10 pieces of lumber. Fine so far. Had 6 medium build people sitting with no problem. If you are obese you may wanna consider a different frame. My biggest complaint would be the hardware. later.
Alicia Wallace –
Table will be a bit heavy once assembled, but this worked great. We used 2 small sample cans of Olympic exterior deck stain which were about $4 each to completely coat a 6’ table made with 10” boards. Coated multiple times too.
Kevin –
Bought this table a couple of months ago to have in a large outdoor camping/entertainment spot. It will always be outside. The kit came to me undamaged and the instructions were very easy to follow. I chose to build a eight foot table with 2x10s using regular lumber (I stained and waterproofed the lumber post build). Table is quite sturdy and the eight foot table comfortably holds 8 people. I did find that on the benches, there is a decent amount of sag in the middle when being used. I chose to reinforce with 2x4s running underneath the seats. I actually bought 3 more of the kits. My plan is mount the brackets closer together so there is less distance between them for the benches. I hope that this will make the seats more stable…but I will buy 2x4s as a backup as well.Either way, a good deal for a good table. Hope it lasts a long time!
Ben Wicks –
I was so excited to build our picnic table that I bought PT lumber before receiving this order. I wish I had known that there were great instructions included which detail all pieces to purchase and cuts to make. However, I was able to customize the table to my liking. 6′ with 4x 2x8s tops and 2x 2x6s on each bench seat.
BigGuy45 –
This is the second time in 20 years that I have made a picnic table using this tubular metal table base system. The first time was when my daughter was small and recently when she got her own house. Both times the assembly was very easy and made me look like a pro. Even if you are an accomplished handyman and could build a table from scratch, this system is great if you just don’t have a lot of time. One alteration I would suggest is to replace the four 3 1/4 inch screws used join the legs together with four 3 inch screws. The longer screws leave too much exposed screw sticking out in an area where legs and feet could get scraped. Or, just hacksaw off the excess screw and file it smooth with a metal file.I’ve used 2×10 treated boards. Any wood exposed to the elements tends to warp over time. The wider boards provide the most consistently level area and fewest boards to become distorted.Good product.
Dave K –
We built ours using 2X6 lumber. I would highly recommend using 2X6 as it maximizes the width of the seats, reduces any warpage and cupping you would get with 2X10 lumber and as an added bonus, slightly higher seating and absolutely no fasteners showing topside. No bolts going through the top or seat boards, should reduce the risk of rot. The frame seems very strong, but is light. We built the table to six feet, and it is very stable and quite heavy. Two of us test sat on the same side with no one across, total weight about 450 lbs, no problem at all. We would recommend drilling the bolt holes at 3/16” rather than 1/4” especially if using softer wood, which most pressure treated is. Took about 3 hours to build. Would take a lot less to build more after first. Highly recommend!
Jay Repko –
Great design. Works well.Easy to get in and out without that annoying middle bar that most all wooden picnic tables have.I use 6″ x 5/4″ PT on top and 2×10 PT for bench.I have also use local milled Cedar wood.I made my bench 6 feet as I find any longer makes the table too heavy and the metal frame can not handle that much weight.I have built 3 tables using these kits.I recently milled my own planks out of Atlantic White Cedar.Since Cedar is softer, lighter and has less strength I made the planks thicker accordingly.I made top planks 1 1/2″ Cedar and Bench plank 10.5″ x 1 7/8″I would give it 5 stars but the bolt kit they include is not have all the hardware. Also their bolts have cracked on the frame with normal wear & tear. They should provide grade 5 or grade 8 bolt hardware.
Mini Wheat –
I built the 8-ft 2×6 option using builders grade cedar. Stained it with linseed oil. Worked out great but I highly recommend using a 1/4-in drill jig to land the holes at 90 degrees. As far as stability, I feel like its high quality and is very sturdy
szamp –
In our Florida home plush deck furniture will last for 1 year and that is when you bring the cushions in the house for bad weather. We have had one picnic table made with this frame for 20 years having replaced the wood once. This spring we added another picking table and were thrilled to see the frame is still being made. The old frame still looks great. We find the 6 foot size works best. I just purchased anther table frame for my daughter who lives in Seattle. We have noticed this particular type of picnic table is the preferred choice for many state parks as well.
Marshal Jon –
I was concerned that this table wouldn’t be solid, but after a summer of use I am quite happy with it. We wanted ended up making a 7′ table with treated 2x10s. It’s the perfect size for 6-8 people with sufficient elbow room. The table is pretty heavy once assembled, but the design of the legs makes it much easier to slide around the yard when mowing when compared to a table with 4 independent legs. We also like that you can slide in from the side rather than having to climb over the seat (especially nice when we have older folks over). We also drilled a hole in the middle and added an umbrella which is great on those Sunday afternoons. All that to say that we are happy campers!
Rudy B. –
The frame was pretty easy to assemble.Got 5 pieces of lumber from Home Depot2X8 and a couple of 2X4 to assemble it. Then I apply polyurethane finish and that’s how it looks of the picture I posted. I’m pleased with the results. Hope to get many years out of it.
Suzanne K –
Made a very durable picnic table, only negative is that it’s pretty heavy. My brother sanded each board and rounded edges before putting together. Looks amazing. I’d definitely recommend it, just make sure to build it where you want it to stay, or have 4 people on hand to help move it. We made the 8 ft length to hold the most people. We put the legs 1/4 of the way in from each end to balance the weight evenly.
Lois M King –
We made an 8 foot table out of this frame and it stretches it a bit to do that. We were pleased how it went together but with the 8 foot span the table part does shake a little. Other than that we are pleased. The price is very reasonable and the lighter weight makes a difference when you go to move it. If we make any more we will probably only use 6 foot boards.
Jerry V –
Simple, “No brainer” construction. I did the 2×10 version which makes the simplest to construct, 6′ table (I am using this at my hot dog cart for seating). The only comment is that the “Brace bar” is lightweight and was supposed to be screwed in. Instead, I drilled holes and replaced the screws with lag bolts (this baby aint going nowhere!)All in all… a simple solution to use instead of makeing a table.
Michael Baldwin –
Good value for the money here. Simple to assemble and works very well with the lu8mber I had on hand. Only issue is the vertical tubes are open at the ends and can collect rainwater. So ever so often I turn it over to drain the water out to prevent corrosion of the pipes. I might disassemble it at some point and plug the pipes to eliminate this issue. Good product overall and well worth the money.
Mark Laing –
First one lasted 16 years. Saw a couple of hurricanes. Stayed strong. It’s worth mentioning that they encourage you to use chemical free wood (because children eat directly off the table sometimes) and that wood is the cheapest. Helps keep the price down.
Foreman 500Fm –
It’s easy to put together. Directions are easy. 6′ long seems to be the perfect size with the steel tubing. I may have to cut off couple feet later, depending how bad it’ll sag later on.The legs are rounded and no feet so it makes moving it around the yard easier when I mow.
hopemars –
It’s good quality and sturdy. Assembled using 2x10s for table, and a 2×10 for each bench. This replaced a frame that was rusting out. The old frame was almost an identical design (also 1-5/8 tube), and was in use for over 25 years outside, exposed to the elements summer and winter in upstate Pennsylvania. I fully expect this one to last just as long.
Larry D. Ford –
The instructions should recommend 2x10x6, I had already purchased 2x8x6 and they worked out fine.
Wanderley –
I like it The hardest part was sanding and painting the wood and waiting for it to dry, assembly is easy as long as you drill the holes in the right place, I made it 6 ft long and so far I’m happy with it, I added a $30 patio umbrella, we’ll see how it holds up when my fat relatives come over, but I think it’ll be ok.
Cory Hinze –
Made a 8ft table with it. I wish they had drain holes so it didn’t stain my deck but that’s is easy enough to fix yourself.
Sixty9Harley –
I built one of these 30 years ago and it finally gave up. This is the same as I bought yeasr back with a stiff frame, there is a no wiggle in this one. Finding the wood that you want to sit on and look at for the next 25 years is the key consideration.
Anonymous –
Hesitated to order this because the description says the tube-frame is only 1 5/8 inch in diameter, which seemed too small. Pictures looked like it was bigger, read decent reviews, so got it anyway, & turns out it’s plenty strong! Says so right on the box. Was surprised no one else commented on this before in their reviews. Giving it 5 stars, because, it’s good quality for the price.
Pat D –
Not as heavy as our original, but will do. Had to resell some holes. Hopefully will last 15 years or better.
kim –
I ordered the picnic table and when we received the package it was damaged very bad. The products werent in bad shape at all due to them being metal, but one piece was missing. I contacted outdoorisness and they sent the replacement.
Stephen C. –
Best to use 2 by 10.
Patricia –
I made an outdoor table using this frame and 5 pieces (2″ by 10″) of lumber. I am 76 and an old lady. Instructions were simple to follow and I had no problem making the 6′ table except for tightening the nuts on the benches. That’s when I called my son in law for an assist. The ‘Harvest’ table is so handy that I bought a 2nd set for a 4 foot patio table of a better grade of cedar.
Minnie –
As a volunteer project for our Historic Museum, a group of us constructed 8 picnic table that could be used on the grounds by visitors. All of the nuts and bolts are included. You just need to purchase the wood separately. Very practical and easy to put together especially if you use 2X10 cedar. The most time consuming part was the sanding. I recommend running the wood through a planer if you have one available.
Ericksons15 –
Great buy! The frame arrived promptly and the box included all the bolts and hardware needed. We had the wood from a previous table where the frame had rusted out. This frame has plastic caps over the ends, so rain can’t get it and cause rusting from the inside. We had the new table together in no time – just had to drill a few new holes to line all the boards up. Love eating outside again!

Husband had back surgeryAnxious to get table put together

The frames shipped on time and in excellent condition with all the needed hardware.vI was tossing around the idea of using redwood ,cedar, or red oak for my table top and benches but the cost was to prohibitive. Pressure treated lumber was out of the question for a number of reasons.I was lucky enough to find a local sawmill who forests trees locally and so the wife and I were on our way (the wife was never at a sawmill ,she was impressed and happy to come along) so far so good–wife happy–materials on time.We looked around and settled on white pine.At this juncture i should mention I had already decided on building the tables 8 foot long and use 2 x 10 wood.We needed five pieces of 2 x 10 @ 8 foot long for each table ( we purchased two frame packages). We had the sawmill guy plane down both sides for a nomial fee and just loved the beauty of the wood.Since some of the wood was various widths and lenghts I had to cut them down to the desired size of 8 foot by 9 and one half inches .After that some belt sanding with a 120 grit paper and it was time to build. Now I am a carpentar but these frames couldn’t have been any easier to use,in fact so easy that some of my friends (and part-time superintendents whenever I am working on a project) insisted on helping–now i am watching and they are boasting how great a carpentar they are , I agreed (there might be a little Tom Sawyer in me). after applying two coats of minwax helmsman they are ready to use.Only one note to pass along,if you are using any wood thicker than the normal one and one half inches be prepared to buy longer bolts ,as the ones shipped will only work with nominal wood, my sawmill wood even after being planed and sanded ended up being one and seven -eights inches thick. But that little bit of extra cost as compared to the beauty of this wood and the beefy look of the table coupled with the strenght of these frames can not be beat.Yes these tables can fold up, after removing the seats, but we think we are going to keep them up year ’round to show ’em off, everyone loves them, and they are easy, easy ,easy to assemble.Great product!!!!!

I am very happy with the product. After assembly, I used red tinted Thompson’s Water Seal on it and it looks great. Maybe should have painted the boards before assembly because I couldn’t quite get in all the cracks, but no big deal. Took me about 3 hours to build it and about an hour to seal it so it went pretty quick. Will use a hole saw later to drill an umbrella hole. Is it as strong as a state park table? No. Will it hold up to a whole family jumpin’ around and havin’ a good ‘ol time? Yes it will. Overall a great product that’s easy to build and gives you a sense of accomplishment. Check it out!

I liked these bc they allow easy entry access. The bolts that come with it are okay, I bought some better ones.I used 2×10 8ft long boards – Total of 5.I used 3 – 2×4 26.25 inches long for the slates underneath table top.I then added a couple of 2x4s under the seats for extra stability. The package recommends that you place the legs about 10 inch from each edge..this didn’t seam stable. I saw someone else reviewed saying they did 2ft, but then that seems too far in. So I placed my table legs 16 inches from each end. This seemed like a sweet spot.Table is sturdy and I sanded and stained with a waterproof barrier.

I read this kit is easy to put together. Granted I’m assembling and eight foot unit which adds a lot of weight but this is a monster to assemble. The bolts must be perfectly aligned to traverse two 2×4 and the frame holes but the unit is too flimsy to square up and accomplish this. The frame was bent just testing the fold-ability. Just accept it isn’t going to fold. Or I should say it’s not worth trying. Even with the top and seats being bolted down the entire structure of the table is secured by two tiny braces. They are flimsy to the point of dangerous. You should never allow a child under the table and no one should ever stand or climb on the seats or top. The only good thing I have to say about it is that since I have built the surfaces it won’t be that much more difficult to construct a wooden A-frame support.

For the frame price and what you want to spend on wood you can end up with great picnic table at a low price. I ended up going with 8’ 2×10’s for under $45 plus a pint of stain. The instructions are a little confusing until you realize it has instructions for each size and width choice of wood placed somewhat randomly on the pages. They are pretty clear though when you figure out where to look. All the screws and bolts are supplied so you have no worries about having to pick then up or figure out what sizes to buy. I ended up going with an 8’ and do notice a bit of flex when sitting in the middle of the 2×10 board but nothing too bad, maybe larger adults nearer the ends and kids in the middle? Have to say the 8’ is plenty large enough for all the family and fixins. The legs will actually fold up under the table for easier storage if you remove the seat boards and unbolt the stabilizer arms. Not overly heavy but would probably take two people to move it a good distance. I can lift one end up with ease and wouldn’t have an issue shifting it around for mowing but would be a hassle to take it from one side of the yard to the other. Overall it seems quite durable and should see years of use with retreating of the wood every year or so. This is a great frame for as little as a 4’ table to an 8’ suiting your needs also giving you the choice of lumber you want and staining/painting options.

I have tried other brands similar picnic table kits and found this to be the best value for cost, quality and ease of assembly.
